Evangelical Pastors and Groups Speak Out Against Issue 3, the Legalized Marijuana Proposal

Some evangelical church leaders throughout the state are the latest to oppose Issue 3, the proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize marijuana. Ohio Public Radio’s Jo Ingles reports.

Pastor Tim Throckmorton of the Crossroads Church in Circleville says Ohio’s families will suffer if Issue 3 passes.

“The after effects can be harmful not only these children and teenagers but it’s also a gateway drug and it has the ability to entrap a life and strangle a life with addiction.”

Faith Oltman with ResponsibleOhio, the group backing Issue 3, says passage of it would keep Ohio kids safer.

“Right now, drug dealers are selling to kids without i-ding them and Issue 3 will smother the black market and keep marijuana out of the hands of kids.”

The evangelical pastors and groups that back them say they’ll speak out against legalized marijuana in internet ads and social media.
