This week on "The State of Ohio": Lawmakers once again look at electing to change voting laws. Democrats hit back again against JobsOhio. And conservative activists who say they were targeted for extra scrutiny by the IRS speak out as they prepare to sue.

Two longtime Senators say their colleagues' vote on the budget will be historic.
By Karen Kasler - June 12, 2007
Two longtime legislators are expecting a history-making vote in the Senate tomorrow. Democratic Senator Ray Miller of Columbus and Republican Senator Tim Grendell of northeast Ohio say the vote on the two-year budget will go as the vote in the House did last month.

Grendell says this is a budget he's happy to support, and he'll be voting in favor of it tomorrow.

Miller agrees, but also disagrees with Grendell.

It had been more than 50 years since lawmakers had unanimously passed a budget when they all voted in favor of it in May. There are some differences in the House and Senate versions of the budget, which will have to be worked out in committee. And Gov. Strickland can always use his line-item veto power to strike things he doesn't like. Gov. Taft marked out 27 items in the budget, which was created by his fellow Republicans in the legislature.
