A special government program that helps low-income and elderly Ohioans keep their winter heat going is quickly being depleted this year because of higher fuel costs and more demand. The Home Energy Assistance Program - HEAP for short - has its own emergency program, and coordinator Nick Sunday says the money in it is going fast. He talked with Ohio Public Radio's Bill Cohen.
Sunday says that Ohioans who heat their houses with fuel oil or propane are the most at risk for running out of fuel to stay warm. The HEAP program is funded with federal money. |
