Charities throughout Ohio say this Christmas season has been particularly tough. Increased need coupled with decreased giving has left many charities scrambling to help thousands of Ohioans with the most basic of needs. Alice Hohl is with the Salvation Army.
Hohl says her organization had a good day Saturday when celebrity bell ringers took charge of those red kettles throughout the state. Gov. Ted Strickland rang a bell at a grocery store near Columbus on that day. Final figures are not in yet but she's hopeful that last minute push was enough to meet the agency's needs. |
