Millions in federal funds come home to Ohio to help with homelessness.
By Bill Cohen - January 8, 2008
The federal government has just awarded Ohio a $10.5 million grant to help local communities deal with homelessness. Some of the money will be used to provide housing vouchers for homeless people. Nikki Jaworski works with the Ohio Development Department. She says the big urban counties had already applied to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for their own grants. But this new grant to the state is supposed to help areas that are not usually thought of as places where many homeless people live.

The $10.5 million is in addition to about $60 million that the feds have awarded to local communities.
