General Motors says it is speeding up plans to close its truck and SUV assembly plant in Moraine. Earlier, the company announced it would shut down the plant in 2010, but now, GM says it will probably be sooner because cost-costing moves are being phased in more quickly. Ohio's Lt. Governor is still holding out hope that GM can keep the Moraine factory open by switching to a new product. Lee Fisher says the automaker should realize that its future lies in making vehicles that use renewable energy.
Fisher says he and Gov. Ted Strickland have met with GM officials in the past and plan to again in the future to make that sales pitch. |
