Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Green Party uses ruling for another minor party to file a lawsuit.
By Jo Ingles - August 28, 2008
The Ohio Green Party is suing Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. The group wants to get the name and party affiliation of its presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney, on the November ballot. The Green Party's Tim Kettler says a recent court victory by the Libertarian Party gives credence to his party's position in this case.

The question of support is a major issue. The party's petition to be put on the ballot was rejected earlier this month because the group didn't have the five thousand signatures it needed to meet the Secretary of State's directive regarding minor parties. The lawsuit has been filed in a federal district court in Columbus.
