Illness that sickened some Ohioans in November linked to sickness in other states.
By Jo Ingles - January 7, 2009
A lot of Ohioans were sick at the end of November with salmonella. It turns out people in other state were also affected by the illness at the same time. The Ohio Department of Health's Kristopher Weiss tells Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles the agency is working with other states to find out what might have caused the illness.

Weiss says the best way to protect against salmonella is to make sure meat is fully cooked and refrigerated well before cooking, and to make sure vegetables are washed thoroughly before serving them.
