Among the somewhat surprising proposals in Gov. Ted Strickland's State of the State speech was that the two-year freeze on tuition would stay in place at Ohio's community colleges and branch campuses. And the governor asked the main campuses to freeze tuition for 2010, and then increase it by no more than 3.5% in 2011. Ohio Public Radio's Karen Kasler talked to the head of the state's largest university, Ohio State president Gordon Gee. Gee says since the state will offset the cost of the tuition freeze to public colleges and universities, they can continue with their work even while holding down the cost for students. |
