This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Grief counseling will be offered at Shenandoah Elementary in Noble County following the murder of an 11-year-old student. Colton Bayly was murdered by his father Ted Bayly, who also killed his wife and subsequently took his own life. Superintendent Dan Doyle of the Noble County School District has brought in a crisis management team to offer counseling to students and faculty alike.
In 2000, a similar crime occurred when five children who attended Shenandoah were killed by their father.
Authorities say Ted Bayly was suffering financial problems and was not able to work because of a disability. |
