Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Former speaker's residency continues to be a question, as he considers new run for office.
By Jo Ingles - February 25, 2009
Questions about former Republican Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted's official residency continue to dog him. The Montgomery County Board of Elections came up with a tied vote over whether Husted officially lives in the Dayton area he represents or at his wife's home in Columbus. Jeff Ortega, a spokesman for Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, says the office has not officially received the paperwork yet.

Ortega won't say whether Brunner will appoint someone else to make the decision. That question has surfaced because Husted, now a state senator, has been critical of Brunner in the past. And there's another factor. Brunner has recently announced that she's running for the US Senate seat currently held by republican George Voinovich. Husted is thought to be a front runner to be a Republican candidate for the secretary of state's job in 2010.
