Tourism department says it's bringing in billions to Ohio.

State leaders say tourism in Ohio accounted for $38 billion in sales in the Buckeye State in 2007. Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher says that's not only good for business but also the state and local communities. Fisher says $2.6 billion were generated from the sales in 2007. Fisher says the tourism industry in Ohio provides more than tax dollars.

The state's tourism director says the latest marketing campaign in Ohio is very successful. Amir Eylon says the state has seen a great return on its initial investment in the travel and tourism marketing program.

Gov. Ted Strickland wants to spend $18 million on travel and tourism programs over the next two years. That would be a slight increase from the amount currently being spent.
