Are you looking for fresh garden vegetables? Or ripe off the vine berries? There are 260 farms and businesses in Ohio that sell directly to the public and they're all listed in the new Good Earth Guide to Organic and Ecological Farms and Gardens. The guide is published by the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association. Ed Perkins is president of the Association's Athens chapter.

Perkins says the Good Earth Guide lists the farms that are officially certified...and lists farmers by county, including contact information. Also in the guide is information on buying "crop shares."

Perkins owns the organic Sassafras Farm in New Marshfield.
