Gov. Ted Strickland is urging Ohioans and Ohio companies to make charitable donations this holiday season. He notes that with long lines at emergency food pantries, it's obvious that groups battling hunger need all the help they can get.
Strickland says the Walmart Foundation has just made two big donations that reflect the kind of giving he's talking about. The foundation has donated $100,000 dollars to Ohio's HEAP program, which helps low-income people pay their winter heating bills. Plus, Walmart has donated $250,000 dollars to the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks, which supplies dozens of food pantries. |
