Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Plan to change the way maps of lawmakers' districts are drawn clears first hurdle toward ballot.
By Jo Ingles - March 30, 2012
Opponents of Ohio’s redistricting process want to put a plan before voters that would change the way redistricting is done in the future. It is necessary to change the constitution in order to change the way in which boundary lines are drawn for congressional and legislative districts. Ann Henkener of the Ohio League of Women Voters says the first step has been taken now that the Ohio Attorney General has given approval to the initial petition to start the process.

The Ohio League of Women Voters, The Ohio Council of Churches, Citizen Action, ProgressOhio and several other major groups statewide have volunteered to help to get the signatures needed to put the proposed constitutional amendment on the ballot in November.
