Kasich vows to win severance tax/income tax cut - without “pounding” on legislators.
By Bill Cohen - March 30, 2012
Gov. John Kasich’s proposal to raise taxes on Ohio oil and gas drillers remains on the shelf in the legislature. But he insists he’ll eventually convince lawmakers to approve it. And the Governor contends he can win converts without going on the offensive.

The Governor has proposed hiking the severance tax that energy companies pay to extract natural gas and oil from underground shale. Kasich wants to use the new revenue to pay for a cut in the state income tax. He figures, in a few years, the tax cut could amount to 5%.
