This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Students in a district on the south side of Columbus have completed their first day back to school after the holiday break. These students had an especially long break since classes were canceled a couple of days before the recess when it was discovered that two of the districts buses were fired upon while making their routes. The sheriffs department detective leading a task force investigation into a string of 18 shootings on the citys south side, Steve Martin, says efforts have been made to insure the safety of the students in that district. Martin says investigators have identified three vehicles parked at a gas station on the citys south side on December 15, the same night a residence just three blocks away was fired upon. Martin says detectives want to talk to the owners of these cars to see if they might have information that could prove useful in the investigation. |
