The House passed legislation Tuesday to tighten Ohio's rape law, ensuring that
people who rape children face additional jail time. The current law punishes rapists
who use force more severely than other rapists. Prosecutors often find it difficult
to prove force when children are victimized. Republican Sponsor John Widowfield

| The new law would require judges to sentence child rapists to life in prison. Repeat offenders would get life without parole. The legislation passed unanimously in the House and now goes to the Senate. |
