| Ohio Prisons Hit By Budget Cuts. |
|
By Bill Cohen - March 29, 2001 |

Ohio Prisons are about to feel the impact of the latest round of spending cuts ordered by Governor Taft. In December, Taft ordered state agencies to cut spending by 2-4%. And now he's ordering them to cut their spending again by 4% during April, May and June.
Joe Andrews of the state correctional department tells Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen that the double hit will mean fewer people working at the prisons. It's not a matter of layoffs, but instead, attrition, job vacancies going unfilled. |
