Ohio/Kentucky Have Plan To Host 2012 Olympics.
July 24, 2001
Cincinnati would like to host the summer Olympic games in 2012. And officials with the Olympics are in the Queen City this week looking at what it has to offer. One thing it can offer is political backing from lawmakers in both Ohio and Kentucky. Ohio senator Lou Blessing is the sponsor of a plan in Ohio's legislature that would create a special coordinating authority to oversee the games, if Olympics officials choose Ohio. He says the combined effort between the buckeye and bluegrass state is important. Blessing says both Ohio and Kentucky could reap huge financial rewards from hosting the games. But he also says the prestigious games would attract attention from a worldwide audience.
