If you're like most Americans, you got your first taste of the legend of Thanksgiving as a school kid. It was there that you learned the story of the first European americans and their leader Miles Standish, their flight to the new world to escape religious persecution and their relations with the native American population, particularly Squanto and the Wampanoags.
Paul Cox of member station WCPN was curious to see if school kids are still learning the story of the first Thanksgiving, and if so, what they are learning. So, he visited a third grade class at Hathaway Brown school in University Heights in suburban Cleveland. Let's see what he found out. |
