Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge announced more than ten million dollars in grants to groups in Ohio and 25 other states Thursday to help those who want to volunteer for homeland security efforts. Ridge says since September 11th many Americans have asked what they can do to help fight the war against terror. Now thousands may get the chance to lend a hand through competitive grants offered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Corporation chief Leslie Lenkowskii says some 37,000 Americans will get the chance to help protect their country and their community. Matt Kay reports from the nation's capitol. |
