Will State Settle Another Lawsuit With Buckeye Egg?.
By Jo Ingles - January 3, 2001
It's unclear whether there will be a settlement between the state and Buckeye Egg Farm, the giant central Ohio company that's been repeatedly sued for pollution problems. A trial was set to begin today (Wednesday). The state wants the company to reduce fly infestations, limit expansion plans, and pay civil penalties it owes. Joe Case is a spokesman for Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Case explains it's now unclear whether the issue is settled in a court room, or in a conference room. Buckeye Egg is one of the nation's largest egg producers. It sells about 100 million dollars worth of eggs each year.
