Another voter registration drive is underway in Ohio, with just a few days remaining before the deadline. The New Voters Project had been working in six states, but has now moved in to Ohio and eight other states, targeting 2 million people between 18 and 24 years old. Mara Friedman is with the Ohio group. The group operates alongside the Ohio Public Interest Research Group, a liberal-leaning consumer watchdog group. But the statewide and national organizers have support from politicians from both parties. And the group doesn’t have a lot of time. The voter registration deadline is October 4. |
