Groups representing Ohio’s poorest citizens say they’re grateful that Governor Taft’s proposed two year budget protects some things like the children’s health insurance plan and funding for the Second Harvest Foodbanks. But the coalition of social advocates say more needs to be done to help low income Ohioans. Lori McClung says the group has released the Ohio Children’s Agenda; a report that outlines various key issues that the group thinks must be addressed in order to make sure all of the state’s kids can grow into successful adults. McClung says advocates for Ohio’s poor are nervous about the upcoming budget process. She says it’s hard to make legislators realize how their decisions affect the state’s neediest citizens. |
