Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Now may be the time to file state income tax returns.
By Karen Kasler - February 25, 2005
More than a million Ohioans have already filed their state income tax returns, and most of them filed on-line. Gary Gudmundson with the Ohio Department of Taxation says his office is bracing for a second rush of filers closer to the April 15 deadline. Gudmundson says now may be the best time to file, especially for taxpayers who plan to call the state’s hotline for help with their returns. On peak days, the Department of Taxation takes as many as 50-thousand phone calls. And Gudmundson says the lull also means returns…and refunds…will be processed more quickly.
