This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Republican Congressman Bob Ney is representing more than just his Ohio House district today -- he's representing the entire country. Ney is a member of the congressional delegation attending the Pope's funeral. Ney arrived in Rome Thursday morning, one of approximately 40 Representatives and Senators selected to make the trip. Ney is Catholic and calls himself "lucky" and "humbled" to have been chosen by the Speaker to be a member of the delegation. Thanks to good planning, Ney and his colleagues are staying in a hotel, but he says others are not so fortunate. Ney says he will be leaving Rome Friday evening and plans to be back in his 18th Ohio House district sometime on Saturday. |
