The trial of suspected freeway shooter Charles McCoy Junior of Columbus continued Friday, with a woman who's expected to be one of the prosecution's star witnesses. Mary Cox was the driver of the car involving in the only fatal shooting of the 12 connected to the so-called highway sniper. 62 year old Gail Knisley was killed in Cox's car in November 2003. In testimony broadcast on Court TV, Cox told Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien about the shooting.
Defense attorney Michael Miller apologized to Cox before asking only a few questions. McCoy's lawyers have said he is the shooter, but that he suffers from a mental illness that prevented him from knowing what he was doing was wrong. |
