More than 1,500 Ohio National Guard soldiers are being deployed to help the desperate survivors in the areas horribly devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Major Nicole Gabriel with the Ohio National Guard told Ohio Public Radio's Karen Kasler some 200 soldiers are leaving for Mississippi Thursday night, with the rest moving out Friday, headed for Mississippi and Louisiana. An addition 16 Ohio Army National Guard chaplains are headed to the Superdome in New Orleans to help the 15,000 refugees there. |
