Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": The budget is on its way to a committee that will hammer out the differences before the end of the month deadline. But there are serious issues on both sides that could slow down the talks. A billion dollars is headed back to Ohio employers who paid into the state’s Bureau of Workers' Comp program. But a critic says the BWC has an outstanding bill that remains unpaid. And more on how Ohio's poorest people are surviving the rising costs of a basic existence.

In the wake of soaring gas prices, Ohio Senator wants investigation into oil companies.
By Bill Cohen - September 9, 2005
Soaring gasoline prices are prompting U.S. Senator Mike DeWine to call for a federal investigation of the oil companies. The Ohio Republican is chair of the Senate Anti-trust Subcommittee, and he wants the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General to investigate whether the oil industry is engaged in illegal price-fixing. DeWine says tougher new laws are not the answer to soaring gasoline prices, but he thinks the President can use the “bully pulpit” to bring them back down. Ohio drivers and motorists across the nation are now paying – on average – more than three dollars a gallon for fuel.
Sen. Mike Dewine (R-Ohio) with Bill Cohen (3:10)
