Governor takes aim at new concealed-carry weapons law.
By Jo Ingles - September 21, 2005
A bill that’s been introduced in the Ohio legislature would change the state’s concealed carry law, restricting cities and towns from passing laws that deny Ohioans the ability to own some weapons and making some names of permit holders unavailable to the media. The legislature has yet to vote on the measure. But Governor Bob Taft is weighing in on the bil, saying he sees no need for it. The concealed carry law currently allows Ohioans to take a training course, register, then carry a concealed weapon in many public places. The law on the books right now also permits journalists to get names of people who have registered.
