A group fighting a proposed ballot initiative to limit state spending has filed formal protests over some petitions being used to qualify that issue for the November ballot. Jenny Camper says her group believes the petitions were not filed legally in Clark, Cuyahoga, Clermont, Franklin and Lorain counties.
Secretary of State and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell wants Ohioans to vote on the spending limitation issue this fall. But Blackwell’s campaign spokesman, Gene Pierce, is not shocked or upset by the legal protest against the petition signatures.
If the issue gets on the ballot this fall, voters will be able to decide whether to approve the change to Ohio’s constitution that would limit spending by state leaders. |
