| Candidates for US Senate react to president's comments about oil. |

As he listened to President Bush's State of the State speech, Republican Senator Mike Dewine says he was pleased to hear the president speak about oil.
Democratic Congressman Sherrod Brown of Lorain, who’ll face Dewine this fall if he wins the primary against Iraq veteran Paul Hackett, had a different take on Bush’s comments.
Bush called for increased federal research into alternative fuels such as ethanol made from weeds or wood chips instead of corn. As for Bush’s comments on strengthening ethical standards, Dewine says all Americans expect Congress to pass ethics legislation. Brown says lobbyists and big companies help fuel the corruption in Congress. |
