Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": Lawmakers once again look at electing to change voting laws. Democrats hit back again against JobsOhio. And conservative activists who say they were targeted for extra scrutiny by the IRS speak out as they prepare to sue.

Though some have been talking bi-partisanship, Democrat leaders say they're ready for battle.
By Jo Ingles - December 4, 2006
Democratic leaders of the Ohio House are preparing for a showdown in the state legislature this month. Minority leader Joyce Beatty says recent events suggest that the next couple of weeks could be full of “partisan power plays and surprises that could poison the statehouse climate.” But Beatty says minority Democrats are poised to take on those fights if necessary.

Beatty says there are some pieces of legislation supported by both Republicans and Democrats. She says she’ll try to get the Republican-controlled legislature to take up those issues instead of divisive issues like campaign finance reform and changing the administrative rule making process for state government. A spokeswoman for Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted (R-Kettering) says she could not comment on this story at this time.
