Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

First Lady will wear gown that is uniquely hers - and Ohio's.
By Jo Ingles - January 12, 2007
When Ohio's new first lady appears at the Inaugural ball this weekend, she'll be wearing a gown especially designed for her, but not by Oscar De La Renta, Versace or some other famous international designer. Frances Strickland's dress has been designed by two professors at the Kent State University's school of Fashion Design and Merchandising. Shari Schofield-Tomschin is one of the designers. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, Schofield-Tomschin explains the First Lady's gown is a unique work of art.

Students did not work on the gown because it had to be designed over Kent State's holiday break. The two professors who designed the gown will attend the inaugural ball.
