Insurance department provides information on new law on coverage for mental illnesses.
By Jo Ingles - October 16, 2007
A new Ohio law mandates that private health insurance companies cover mental illnesses the same way they would physical illnesses. The Ohio Department of Insurance has posted information on its website to help Ohioans understand the new law and how it works. Department of Insurance director Mary Jo Hudson says the information on the website should give Ohioans some basic facts.

The mental illnesses that are covered under this new law include schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, paranoia and other psychotic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
