Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

State agents bust dozens for illegal partying at Ohio University on Halloween weekend.
By Fred Kight - October 29, 2007
Even more than a costume, to a lot of people the Athens Halloween party means boozing it up. Eighty-two people did so illegally, according to the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Liquor agents arrested 29 people Friday night and 53 people Saturday night. There was also one citation issued to a bar or carryout. Twenty agents worked undercover, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Lindsay Komlanc, who says the biggest difference between this year's operation and last year's, was the effort put into publicizing it.

Komlanc says the agency is trying to get the word out that O-U will be used as a model for other schools and was not being singled out.

In Athens, the don't-drink-illegally message included posters and a banner over Court Street.
