This week on "The State of Ohio": The budget is on its way to a committee that will hammer out the differences before the end of the month deadline. But there are serious issues on both sides that could slow down the talks. A billion dollars is headed back to Ohio employers who paid into the states Bureau of Workers' Comp program. But a critic says the BWC has an outstanding bill that remains unpaid. And more on how Ohio's poorest people are surviving the rising costs of a basic existence.

The group that is backing the plan to put a casino in Wilmington still wants Ohioans to vote on a constitutional amendment to allow the facility. The group has filed petition signatures with the Ohio Attorney General's office to get new language for the issue approved for the ballot. Spokesman Rick Lertzman says the group hopes AG Marc Dann's will approve of the new wording of the proposal.
If Dann gives the group approval of the new language, it would then be presented to the Ohio Ballot Board. Once it is approved there, the group will need to collect more signatures to put the issue on the statewide ballot. |
