Inmate ready to make deal to release him from death row to freedom rushed to hospital.
By Jo Ingles - December 20, 2007
Former death row inmate Kenneth Richey is in a hospital, just a day after striking a plea deal with prosecutors that could get him out of jail for good. Putnam County Sheriff James Buetler says Richey was taken from his jail cell for medical treatment early this morning.

The Associated Press reports Richey has been hospitalized for heart problems. Richey was supposed to be in court today but his hearing has now been rescheduled for January 8. Richey was on death row for twenty years before his sentenced was overturned earlier this year by a court. Richey was initially convicted with killing a two year old northwest Ohio girl in a fire back in 1986.
