Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Statehouse operators want more money for upgrading security, but say governor isn't the reason.
By Jo Ingles - January 22, 2008
The panel that operates the Ohio Statehouse wants $600,000 so that security can be upgraded at the building. The head of the Ohio Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, William Carlton, explains some new security cameras are needed as well as security features for the underground parking garage. And unlike two of his predecessors, Gov. Ted Strickland has made his office in the historic Statehouse. But Carlton says the Governor's presence there is not the reason for the immediate security needs.

The Ohio Statehouse is beginning a $2.7 million dollar renovation. The security money being sought now is the first phase of that project.
