The panel that operates the Ohio Statehouse wants $600,000 so that security can be upgraded at the building. The head of the Ohio Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board, William Carlton, explains some new security cameras are needed as well as security features for the underground parking garage. And unlike two of his predecessors, Gov. Ted Strickland has made his office in the historic Statehouse. But Carlton says the Governor's presence there is not the reason for the immediate security needs.
The Ohio Statehouse is beginning a $2.7 million dollar renovation. The security money being sought now is the first phase of that project. |
