Watch This Week's "The State of Ohio" Online
Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

New video shows just a few of the many drunk drivers troopers see every day.
By Karen Kasler - June 30, 2008
With the holiday weekend coming up, state troopers are zeroing in on drunk drivers, with a video that demonstrates how dangerous those drivers can be. Lt. Tony Bradshaw says the Ohio Highway Patrol has put together a video featuring quick clips from dashboard cameras from one single day on Ohio's roads.

The video clips are all compiled from throughout the state from just one day - May 25. It shows a field sobriety test at 3am, where the driver falls over while trying to walk a straight line. At 9am, a woozy looking driver is slumped down in his seat in the trooper's cruiser. And several drivers caught weaving all over the road before being stopped. State troopers arrested 219 drivers for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on May 25, with at least one arrest every hour except between 10 and 11am. You can see the video at statepatrol.ohio.gov.
