Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Legislator wants to outlaw sale of uniforms normally available only to law enforcement.
By Jo Ingles - August 29, 2008
One Ohio lawmaker thinks it should be illegal for anyone to purchase a law enforcement officer's uniform in the Buckeye State. Democratic Rep. Stephen Dyer says he wants to introduce a bill that would outlaw that practice.

Dyer says an incident in his district recently brought the situation to his attention. An armed man entered Manchester High School wearing a Summit County's Sheriff Deputy uniform. Dyer says it's chilling to know that a private citizen can legally obtain a police agency uniform and masquerade as an officer.
