Honda Motor Company is taking actions to cut costs including offering voluntary buyouts for many employees and imposing 13 non production days at its plants. Salaries of top executives will be cut too. There are 14,000 Honda employees in Ohio. Gov. Ted Strickland says he's saddened by the news but understands the company's dilemma. |

| Honda began making vehicles in Ohio in 1979 and opened the East Liberty plant in 1989. It builds Accords and Acuras in Marysville near Columbus and Civics and Elements at a factory in East Liberty. |
