Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Some cities looking forward to medium-speed rail, though it will miss other communities.
By Jo Ingles - May 5, 2009
Ohio rail planners are getting a better sense of what the new train system that will connect Ohio's three largest cities will look like. Rail planners intend to put a medium speed rail between Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati but, at this point, have ruled out connections in Akron and Canton and Toledo for now. The Ohio Rail Development Commission's Stu Nicholson says rail planners are trying to make sure the initial rail line is viable and that means some cities might not be on the first route.

The Ohio Rail Commission's Stu Nicholson says another study is being done on freight traffic in the 3C corridor. Nicholson says the idea is to identify areas where there's too much rail traffic so that the passenger rail line can avoid those points. He says logistics, cost and simplicity will determine the final route for the 3C passenger railway.
