State and local government agencies that currently have the term "mental retardation" in their names soon will not have it. The Ohio House of Representatives today approved a Senate-passed measure that wipes out the term, leaving only the term "developmental disabilities" in the agencies' official titles. Rep. Debbie Newcomb sponsored the measure in the House. |

| The House vote on the measure was 98-0. Gov. Ted Strickland is expected to soon sign the bill into law. That would put Ohio in line with 44 other states which have already removed the term "mental retardation" from the title of their state and local agencies. |
