For three hours today, a committee of Ohio legislators heard more testimony over another plan to crack down on payday loans. The lawmakers and Ohio voters thought they'd put a limit on how much the storefronts could charge for the two-week loans. But hundreds of lenders have survived by tacking on extra fees, so they can charge almost as much as before. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports. |
