Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

State senator wins out over former northeast Ohio county auditor in GOP Secretary of State race.
By Jo Ingles - May 5, 2010
Sen. Jon Husted (R-Kettering) will move on to battle Democratic candidate Mary Ellen O'Shaughnessy for the Ohio Secretary of State's office in November. Republican voters statewide chose Husted over his challenger, Sandra O'Brien. She had received a lot of support from tea party members but in the final weeks of the campaign, Husted put ads on television in the final weeks of the campaign to tell voters about his conservative values. In the end, Republican voters chose Husted by more than a two to one margin.

For her part, O'Brien would not say much about her loss, other than to thank her volunteers and wish therest of the winners of the primary races well. And O'Brien would not answer questions about why she thought she might have lost the race.

Sen. Jon Husted (R-Kettering) (:36)
