Order Online : "The State of Ohio"
This week on "The State of Ohio": State lawmakers consider what they can do in the wake of the horrible and yet miraculous escape story out of Cleveland involving three women held prisoner in a house for a decade. New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. And more thoughts on legislation that would dramatically change rules on unions in Ohio.

Ohio CPAs foresee a long year ahead with economic recovery stagnating.
By Jo Ingles - December 7, 2010
The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants has polled its members about what they expect will happen with the state's economy next year. In an interview with Ohio Public Radio's Jo Ingles, the CPA group's incoming chairman Jim Godfried says the poll shows economic recovery likely won't begin until 2012.

Godfried says it's likely a lot of Ohioans will feel the pinch as the state faces up to an eight billion dollar shortfall next year. He says the state will have to cut funding for services because Gov.-elect John Kasich has promised he won't raise taxes. More than 500 Ohio CPA's responded to last month's survey. 71% of those who responded work in public accounting, 24% are employed by corporations and the rest are educators or government employees.
