New data shows more than half of all violent crimes are committed by a very small numbers of offenders. Lawmakers are now working to target that tiny group. Bill led by Ohio senator seeks to crack down on currency manipulation by China.
By Mark Heyne - October 5, 2011
Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio is backing a bill he says would help create and protect American jobs by cracking down on China's currency manipulation. He's the lead sponsor for the Currency Exchange Rate Oversight Reform Act of 2011.

This week, the bill cleared a key procedural vote in the Senate by a vote of 79-19. Brown says China intentionally devaluing its currency against the dollar has put American manufacturers at a serious disadvantage and made it difficult for them to compete with Chinese companies. He says a recent report shows the growing trade deficit with China, caused largely by China's currency manipulation, has cost the U.S. more than 2.8 million jobs in the past ten years.
