Rhodes, the state's only four-term governor, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Ohio State University Medical Center of complications from an infection and heart failure, said David Crawford, a hospital spokesman. Family members were with him when he died.
Monday, statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen began a three part series on all of the things James Rhodes will be remembered for. We heard about his favorite campaign theme "no new taxes," his programs that built vocational schools, colleges, and highways, and the Kent State shootings that many mistakenly believed would end Rhodes' political career. Now, in part 2 of the series, we take a look at Rhodes' accomplishments during his last several years in politics. |
